Last Sunday I drove on A462 expressway east of Vienna. It was marked as an expressway both at the beginning and at the end. I saw that it isn't available in the clinched highways system and maybe you can add it.

Is that road actually signed as A462? It seems dubious because that designation doesn't fit into Austria's numbering systems for neither motorways nor expressways.

On google maps is signed as A462 and "Autobahnzubringer":
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Autobahnzubringer%2FA462&daddr=Unknown+road&hl=en&geocode=FfgV2wIdRLQBAQ%3BFT-Z2wIdR18CAQ&mra=me&mrsp=1,0&sz=19&sll=47.945988,16.932638&sspn=0.000981,0.002411&ie=UTF8&ll=47.927616,16.914139&spn=0.062804,0.154324&t=h&z=13

Last week I was in that area and I wanted to enter A4 Autobahn from Weiden am See and I took that road. After I did the roundabout on road 51 and I entered A462 (didn't see any A462 road number anywhere - only on google maps) I saw a very big expressway - entrance sign (similar with this one:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1c/Expressway_AT.svg/406px-Expressway_AT.svg.png
but it looked older).

At the junction with A4 there were 2 signs: one "end of expressway":

and another one "beginning of Autobahn":

so the road markings state that that road is an expressway.

Ah, I almost forgot. My GPS told me that the speed limit on that stretch is 100 km/h, although no speed-limit sign was posted.

It might not be a very well known expressway, and the road number (according to google maps) is designed for an Autobahn (A) not for an express road (S), but the road markings were very clear.

That's not signed, that's mapped. We better add I-136 (the most obvious of many Google maps mistakes in the US) and this section of Romanian A2 that ends in the middle of a field (to be fair, that's just getting a bit ahead of time, but inconsistently).

That romanian section of A2 is far from opening. Although our politicians are promising that this summer it will be opened as half profile it won't. Just look at some pictures from the construction site:

I-136 is another story.

I mentain my opinion that A462 should be added to the clinched highway system although it's a very short and maybe unimportant section. The only problem is that I'm not sure if it's a motorway (as google maps says) or expressway (as the signes posted on the road say).

bogdymol, welcome to the Forum, by the way.

"A462" was certainly a spur worth looking at. Our web page that describes which highways we include in the CHM site is still a work in progress and so it hasn't been posted. I'll tell you though that for the Austrian motorways and expressway systems, they need to be signed with an A or S designation for us to include them. There are a few spurs with such a posted number (A2 and A22 come to mind, with the same number as the main route). Austria's numbering excludes 3-digit A and S numbers, and you say you didn't see A462 posted anywhere on guide signs, so it doesn't qualify here. Being a short connector to a motorway trumpet interchange isn't enough. If ASFINAG should decide to mark it with an A or S number (A4 is most likely) or introduce posted 3-digit numbers for short routes like this, then it could be included.

Thank you for your answer... admin (who ever you are Very Happy). I know that this A462 situation is interesting because I have to admit that I'm not quite sure how to interpret it: short 5-km motorway (or expressway... ??) or a very long trumpet interchange.

If you ever decide to add it to the clinched highway system I promise to be the first one to add it to my clinched highways Smile
