I'll update Indiana's end.

I found maps here:

What will the old 24 be called?

Changes made.

I've assumed that US 24 follows a piece of IN 101 between old and new US 24. Is that right?

OH 424 is the old routing of US 24 through Defiance. It is likely that it will be continued west to Indiana.

Ohio has apparently stopped signing old US routes as Business or Alternate routes. During recent relocations of US 33 and US 30, both as bypasses and rural freeways, the old routes have been returned to local control or signed as state highways.

The best indication that I've seen on the internet is that the directions to the Indiana US 24 ribbon cutting were to take US 24 east to IN 101, south to US 24 freeway. I would assume that US 24 will be routed on IN 101 until the next phase opens.

Digging deeper, Ohio is turning OH 424 and old US 24 to county control as the new US 24 routing is complete. On Nov 15 2009, all of old US 24 west of Defiance and OH 424 in Defiance county is being turned over to county control. The remaining part of OH 424 and old US 24 will be turned over to county control when the Napoleon to Waterville project is complete in 2012.

The forthcoming Ohio State Highway System will reflect the turnback. US 24 will be updated at the same time as well.
