I am now considering this an "unclinched"/untraveled highway. I'm going to send an update deleting my mileage from the renamed portion, and was curious about what others' thoughts were. |

Except for possibly adjusting my list file entry for US 71 (if the non-freeway part of that highway in the Bella Vista area is moved to the new bypass), I don't see a need to change a thing. I-540, and AR 549 in the Texarkana area, were freeways when I last traveled them before any redesignations. I don't feel I need to re-travel the same highways under their new names to continue counting them as clinched. |

Submitted:
* New I-49 & I-49FutBel.
* Updated I-540, US62, US71, US71BusFay, US412.
Keeping this thread open for the time being:
* to handle the future extension of the BVB
* just in case Texarkana. Even though it may likely skip straight to Interstate Proper status without ever being officially a Future Interstate. Even though it will be an Interstate In the future. ;P |

Edit:
Quote: | Designation of the completed segment is effective immediately | I guess then that with both AASHTO and FHWA approval, this makes it an unsigned interstate, and can be added to the browser straight away, as we've done with all the others.
It's likely that AR549 will be removed once I-49 signage goes up... |

StreetView shows the interchange under-construction. It seems it's a direct straight beeline from the end of Don Tyson Pkwy in the OSM data to where the interchange is located. So, that should help adding a point for it. |

Also, with I-49 in the picture now, should FI-130 be dropped? |

No, we will wait until the last section is complete and the highway is open to traffic. At least that's the decision as of today.
Could change. |
So, this section of I-49 doesn't get added to the HB yet, as it's an as-yet-unsigned interstate that will be signed in the future.
As opposed to unsigned/secret interstates such as ME I-495. |

This will have to have it's points updated. New imagery that can be used in OSM just came out and the entire highway is way off from it's correct location.
Currently, I'm working on fixing this in OSM. So, I'll add a new post once I've finished the cleanup of it in OSM and you can get the new coordinates for it yakra. |

Thanks for the edits. I was on the lookout for an update in that area. My local file is updated. Where did you get the imagery? |

Mapbox updated their imagery in the area with NAIP in the last 24h.

ar.i049tex.wpt is here on my HD and ready to go.
I've also prepared a la.i049bel.wpt for when Tim returns.
Once this gets uploaded, that'll leave us with just the BVB extension and the Barling / Fort Chaffee segment to worry about. |

I traveled yet another new Future I-49 segment in Arkansas, east of Fort Smith and I-540, between US 71 and AR 22. This opened about a week ago, and I drove it earlier today. Mapnik shows the routing and interchanges, but no exit numbers.
There are four exits, including at the beginning and end, all numbered in the field:
187 - US 71
190 - Massard Rd.
191 - Roberts Blvd.
193 - AR 22
BTW, the exit numbers for I-49 north of I-40 remain unchanged, but I guess they'll be renumbered once I-49 is completed in Arkansas. Also, no signed exit numbers yet (at least eastbound -- yesterday I had people in my car, could only go eastbound) on the Bella Vista future I-49 segment already in the HB.
The newest segment is signed primarily as AR 549, but also has Future I-49 signs. |
