Does this route actually go all the way to the TN border? From what I could tell, it only goes up to Bear Branch Rd, where it rejoins I-26 at Exit 3. Coming off of I-26 and Bear Branch Rd, there's only a sign for US 23-Alt SOUTH. North from there, I don't think the old US 23 route rejoins the new highway until 5 miles into TN, and there isn't a US 23-Alt in TN.
I think the northern end should truncated to I-26 Exit 3.

Speaking from experience, this is one of those cases where signage is less-than-stellar. I'd look at what NCDOT data looks like before deciding whether the route actually ends at Exit 3 instead of the TN line... _________________ Froggie
