Jeff Morrison has pointed out an orphaned segment of interstate in Cleveland OH. It is the north side of a triangle of Interstates, where the east side is I 271 and the southwest side is I 480. Looking at Google Streetview, the mile markers on this segment are signed I 480. The Straight Line Diagram labels it at I 480N. The segment has three interchanges:
I 480 exit 25
Unnumbered exit for Miles Road
I 271 exit 27A
I'll submit a map named oh.i480n.ggm, if no objections. _________________ Dave Filpus

Well, on the Auxiliary Routes table from the FHWA, they don't have it's mileage added to the main line of I-480.
http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/reports/routefinder/table2.htm
But if we are to add it, I would suggest it to be done like the I-270 MD split and call it SPUR I-480 if anything.
And here's a streetview image for Tim to see.

If you can find an official approval for it, we'll add it.
If you do find that, then from the info presented so far, it'd be I-480_N since it's not signed as a spur. So it'd be like the unsigned I-395_A in MD rather than the I-270 or I-895 signed spurs.
It's not up to me, but signing as SPUR I-480 would seem reasonable since it has that intermediate interchange. |
