Yet another DC interstate thread!

This map shows I-295 and I-695 "correctly" so it probably is a good source:
http://ddot.dc.gov/ddot/lib/ddot/information/maps/NHS_E_P.pdf

It also shows I-66 ending near the north end of the ramps to the E St NW interchange, rather than at US 29/Whitehurst Expressway. I suppose that means the extension I have to US 29 isn't really part of it, or else it means the map just colors it "non-Interstate" because what mainline is left to the north is just split into various ramps. Thought I'd ask here before deciding whether to truncate it or not for accuracy. I can't remember any useful details when I drove it this weekend. I was mainly distracted by all the curves, ramps, short tunnel under VA Ave., traffic, etc.

IIRC, the 2004 (too dated for us, probably) Thomas Guide of DC shows the mainlines up to US 29. There's no easy way for me to get a current one here in Portland to check, though, short of ordering from Rand McNally...

The FHWA Interstate route log, http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/reports/routefinder/ shows the DC portion of I-66 as 1.48 miles. That's the approximate road distance from the D.C./Virginia line to the westbound Whitehurst Freeway/US 29 onramp. It's only about 0.9 miles to the north edge of the E Street Expressway interchange, so that doesn't account for all of I-66's mileage within D.C.

I suggest leaving I-66 in D.C. as is.

OK, no change to be made. Thanks.
