On January 31, a realigned segment of the Ingraham Trail (NT 4) opened to traffic, about 7 km of new roadway at the west end near Yellowknife. The new segment begins on NT 3 between Old Airport Rd. and the old Ingraham Trail terminus at the Yellowknife Access Rd. The other end of the new segment ties into the old highway between Vee Lake Road and the Yellowknife River.
I need to find out a few more details, including whether NT 3 has been or will be truncated to the new NT 4 intersection, before submitting the changes. |

I'm submitting new route files for NT 3 and NT 4. I haven't confirmed that NT 3's eastern terminus is unchanged. But since that intersection includes the main access road into downtown Yellowknife, as well as the still-open southern part of old Ingraham Trail (but closed to through traffic), I'm going to assume that NT 3 hasn't/won't be truncated, and its only changes will be relocation of the NT 4 waypoint and renaming of the old waypoint. |

First thing I did when I arrived in Yellowknife earlier this evening (as part of a grand tour of Nunavut) was to drive the new and what remains of the old NT 4 alignments. What's in the HB is confirmed by signage on the ground -- NT 4 has moved to the new alignment, the old alignment is closed except the southernmost 2 km between the museum/boat launch and NT 3, and NT 3 still ends at Old Ingraham Trail.
BTW:
-- as we had assumed, no trace of a numbered highway system in Nunavut, so no new system needed there to complete our coverage of Arctic Canada
-- wildfires along NT 3 kept me from driving down to the Deh Cho Bridge, which was still under construction last I was in NWT in 2012, during my brief stay here this year.
