When I drove US 411 through eastern Alabama at the end of March, US 411 was signed as going through Centre on what we have in the HB as a business US 411. The bypass route, which carries US 411 mainline in the HB, was signed, at least on the signs on the end east of town, as "Truck Route US 411".

My pictures of the signs are several images down on this page:

Either things have changed in the past few years, or this is a case where signage doesn't match the map (not like that hasn't ever happened). ALDOT's 2009 Cherokee County map clearly shows a BUSINESS route through town and mainline 411 on the bypass.

I drove the bypass and the eastern half of the business route today. At no point did I see it referred to as a business route (or any other banner), just 411. At both ends of the bypass there are "JCT 411" markers where it meets the business route. Where the bypass intersected AL-9 and AL-283, signage varied: one called it 411 and the other TRUCK ROUTE (rather than TRUCK) 411. Overall it's confusing to say the least, hence my decision to drive both of them to cover all bases.

I noticed several other places in Alabama where highways had TRUCK ROUTE banners, but it seemed that in all cases the signs were just indicating that trucks should follow that highway, rather than indicating a separate route.
