As strange as this may sound, I need a point at T Ave, just west of US 71. Reason being is that at the time I traveled through, a stretch of US 71 just north of US 34 was closed for construction, and T Ave became my detour route.

I believe that the original intent in placement of points was not to accommodate specific situations of individuals (particularly, project volunteers) but to place them at logical places (i.e. main roads, numbered hwys, shaping spots, etc.).

Perhaps, but at the same time, extenuating circumstances may exist. Furthermore, Tim has said in the past that adding usable points is preferable to adding hidden shaping points....if I were doing that US 34 list, I'd have probably added a few shaping points.

Occasional road closures and road construction really doesn't qualify as extenuating circumstances.

Tim has also said, probably before you joined, that you shouldn't stuff the file with shaping points. Not every small curve needs to be covered. In this particular case, the line barely gets to 1000' away from the road for a line that is 4 or 5 miles long. The difference in length is probably no more than a couple hundred feet, which is shorter than the fudge factor.

Guess I just have a different philosophy on it...

Based on Tim's "perks" post, this is now a point. Currently, the point is a visible one.
