My Yankee Crystal Ball sees ME3 being extended in the future:

http://www.maine.gov/mdot/planningdocs/augustaexit113/index.htm
The US2 Wild River bridge Froggie reported a year & a 1/2 ago is complete, and the old bridge removed, per recent aerial imagery.
This necessitates relocating the US2/ME113 junction on both routes.
*Old2 points?
on ME US2 (only one is needed; the other would be the new ME113), we have .31 mi -- bigger than one segment of RI I-195 2 *Old195 3, smaller than the other.
on ME113, 0.14 mi from the old end to the new one... cutting it a bit close, maybe?
Last time I passed thru Augusta, in May, signage seemed to indicate that ME104 had been truncated to the "You Can't Get There From Here" intersection (dig that R3-2!), complete with greenout at the guide signs at Memorial Circle, IIRC? I'll be going Downeast on business in a week, and want to check it out (and get some photos) in person again along the way for good measure before submitting the changes.
Now that I check the shapefiles, even the 2009 edition of MEDOTPUBRDS had milepost 0 at that point. Maybe it just took the signage a little bit to catch up. |

By "I'll be going Downeast on business in a week" I meant "I'll be going to END! 188 on business in eleven days". (Eleven days from that post; 2 days from today.)
END! 188 will be a convenient place to have to visit; it's one of those oddities that bears a little investigation in the field...
The road changes from State Aid Highway to Townway at the Burlington / Grand Falls Twp line. But the Route 188 designation continues another 2.82 miles to a nondescript junction at nowhere in particular (unless you count what looks like a rather well-preserved little red schoolhouse ).
Notable thing about this route is that it strikes out deep into the middle of nowhere and then just dies out. MDOT doesn't always sign these things too well (the south end of 144 comes to mind), and there doesn't appear to be too much signage visible in GMSV.
Nonetheless, MDOT has been on a sign replacement kick recently, and there may be something new in the field to examine by the time I get out there. I'll report back what I find. |

Up-D*te!
There's still a WEST 188 (of the old wooden moss-covered variety) sign just west of the schoolhouse (evidently maintained as a museum), so ME188 stays as is in the HB.
ME104 gets truncated to ME27.
US2 has been rerouted onto the new Wild River bridge in Gilead.
ME113Whi, while changed, I don't consider enough of an extension to be newsworthy; it's just a small point relocation to US2. No new points, no *Old2, nothing to really unmark unless you wanna go all the way back to WildRivRd. |

Caribou Connector is under construction, visible in Bing Aerial imagery. Scheduled for completion in 2012.
At minimum, there will be new waypoints on US1, ME89, and ME161.
I don't now know if any designations will be changed - extensions, truncations, relocations, new designations. |
