Does this route really exist?
AHTD maps suggest the answer is no, especially their Garland town map from 2000 which shows the route as an AR 134 extension instead. Furthermore, there is no "Business 82" bridge across the Red River. The only highway bridge in the area is the mainline US 82 bridge on the north side of town.
My recommendation:
- Eliminate this Business Route listing.
- On the AR US 82 list, rename US82BusGar_W as AR134, and convert the US82BusGar_E point over to a hidden shaping point.
- If the Business Route list is kept, eliminate it east of AR 134, since there's no bridge across the river and no way to continue east back to US 82. _________________ Froggie

Yahoo Maps shows a fully intact Bus US 82 through Garland, crossing over the non-existent river bridge.
Consider it gone. |

I noticed that Google Maps street view now covers some of the Arkansas cities that weren't covered before. I was double-checking a few business routes and found several that have been fully or partially replaced by state routes. This state seems to love business spurs (business routes connecting to the parent route at only one end), something not seen in most states for US highways.
It would have been nice for the AR DOT to have put up their county and city maps back when I created the AR US Hwy. files. They seem to agree with street view in every case I've looked at so far. All I had back then were their traffic count maps. Plus there's the constant annoyance in all their maps to show only one designation even on multiplexes.
Bus 49 in Jonesboro is gone.
Bus 63 in Jonesboro is partially eliminated.
Bus 64 in Alma is partially eliminated.
So it looks like I have the pleasure of overhauling all the bannered routes in AR this week. |

The Jonesboro loops are still recognized by AASHTO, however...
Still include them? |

I would love to see a single document sorted by state and route with all the AASHTO changes, since looking them up by date is time-consuming. |
