Good afternoon,
The concurrency between I-44 and I-55 is broken between Exit 207/290A-B and Exit 290C (which is actually 290D). The issue is that I-44 has an extra point that I-55 does not have. I'm not sure if 290A-B-C is collapsible into a single point as I-55 has or if it should be 2 points (A-B, C) as I-44 has it.
Thanks. |

The concurrency is not broken because the I-55 SB/I-44 WB split occurs before the exit ramp to 12th/Gravois. Similarly, NB 55 and EB 44 do not merge until after the onramp from 12th joins I-44. So that part is moot.
As for the exiting, according to official MoDOT files I have numbered the exits correctly for the extended I-44 - but you have raised an interesting discrepancy. The kicker is, "290A" refers to different roads depending on what direction you're going.
Here's the order for I-44 WB:
290C: Park Ave/7th St, to the northeast of the 44/55 split
290B: I-55 SB (equal split, I-55 on left) (former I-55 SB exit 207) (as of June the 207 tab was still there)
290A: 12th St/Gravois Ave (right exit) - As of June this is signed three different ways: 290A (last gantry before split), 290C (Historic Route 66 side sign), and 290 unsuffixed (gantry at split).
On I-44 EB, 290A and 290B split off at the same time, on the west end of the complex interchange, one going right to I-55 SB and one going left to Lafayette. The waypoint for I-44/55 is in the lower right corner of this arrangement because that's where the I-55 mainline is and, until this year, was where I-44 ended.
I can see how 12th/Gravois should be 290C, and Park/7th 290D, but unfortunately I did not take a picture of that BGS to confirm or refute it being signed differently in the field than planned. (And it will take a little while before Street View goes through, obviously.) |
