OK 34 is routed along Interstate 40 through Elk City and not the business loop as marked on the Highway Browser. Here is a picture I took of this duplex signed: http://www.flickr.com/photos/okroads/4658445313/

Oh boy, a can of worms!

So yes, it definitely seems that OK 34 runs along I-40. My mistake. But then there's this little stub that connects the business loop with the intersection where OK 34 meets I-40 on the west side of Elk City. According to GMSV, that little piece is signed as OK 34 southbound just south of the business loop, and OKDOT's GripLITE confirms that they consider that little stub to be a part of OK 34 as well.

OKLADOT! WHY?!?!
State highways are meant to be one single continuous piece, not random disjointed little pieces that seem to fit together.

Anyway.

Let me ponder this... of course I will fix the routing of OK 34... but whether to include a separate file for stubby here. Spur route maybe? Let me sit down criss-cross applesauce and mull this over.

To open up this can of worms even more: When I clinched the Elk City business loop in July 2012, there is indeed a "JCT OK 34" sign on BL I-40 Westbound: http://www.flickr.com/photos/okroads/7546234820/in/set-72157630520135470/.

Also, signage at the actual intersection does not have a "TO" tab on top of OK 34 South: http://www.flickr.com/photos/okroads/7546235164/in/set-72157630520135470/.

I can confirm that OK 34 is not signed at all on the business loop. However, check out this picture from the east side of Elk City: http://www.flickr.com/photos/okroads/7546232320/in/set-72157631599830411/. A left turn here takes you to I-40 West & OK 34 South, but notice, there is no indication which direction to take to OK 34 South.

Perhaps some old signs have been left up in error?

Or trailblazers that should have a [TO] but don't?

I'm going to assume that the icky signs are either old signs or trailblazers without the TO. No reason in my mind to include stubby based on this.

Will submit correction to OK34 this week.

This is now updated in the highway browser.

Had a look at this area. Also opting to not include Stubby on "old signs or trailblazers without the TO" grounds.

What I will do though is split up I-40's exits 32 and 41 into 32 & 32A and 41 & 41A, on "each half connects to a different highway that we are also mapping" grounds (a la CT CT8 44 44A), and tidy up the OK34 multiplex.

Submit: I-40 I-40BLElk OK34
