On the OK 6 map (possibly others) on highway browser the waypoint at US 283 is "US283_D" for some reason.

Also, where is the Chickasaw Turnpike on the highway browser? I don't see it listed on the page with the other OK toll roads.

Many thanks...

Usually, when entering and exiting a concurrency, the points are marked with _S, _N, _W, or _E suffixes. But in this case, OK6 has two concurrencies with US 283, and there can't be two points labeled US283_S and US283_N. So they are labeled _A, _B, _C, and _D instead.

The US Select Named Freeways are an early system, done before the State systems were started.
Some of the rules of thumb for a route to be included at the time were:
  1. Be above a (vague?) minimum distance
  2. Be full (or almost all?) freeway
  3. Be connected to the rest of the freeway system (EG Interstates, other Select Named Freeways or Select Numbered Freeways)
So it looks like the ChiTpk didn't make the cut at least `cuz of #s 2 & 3.

Since then, adding more routes is a topic that keeps coming up, and there've been quite a few appropriate suggestions (the odd New York or Kentucky Parkway)...

Right now though, having another look at the Select Named Freeways and adding more routes is a low priority, for after the 50 state systems are finished.

Gotcha. Arguably, the Chickasaw Turnpike could be on the back burner for reason #1 as well since it's pretty dang short.

Looking forward to the next installment of state highway systems, keep up the good work!
