A further update: The exit number has been posted for exit 3 northbound (12th Street). That still leaves one gap in the exit number signs (To I-295 northbound), which will probably be signed as either exit 5 or (more likely) exit 7.

Thanks, Oscar, and welcome to the group.
I plan to change the interchange labels on DC I-395 once all of them have been posted and known with certainty. It sounds like that shouldn't be too far in the future if only one is left and they post a new one every week or so.
Are there any changes/updates to exit numbers to be made on I-295 and I-695 in DC? I never found exit numbers for I-695 nor for the I-295 & DC 295 interchange. I see Google Maps shows the latter as Exit 4 now - do you know if that is posted? |

Probably not, since Oscar is in the middle of a long vacation out West.
I'll be up in DC late next week...I can check then... _________________ Froggie

I just got back home yesterday. On the commute into work, I didn't see any exit number assignment for the "To-I-295" left exit from I-395 northbound, which had been the only gap in I-395's exit number signage before I left for vacation. |

On I-295, the interchange with DC 295 is signed as exit 4 northbound. This isn't treated as a left exit -- the exit 4 tab is placed over the lanes exiting from the freeway carrying I-295 toward 11th Street Bridge, rather than over the through lanes which become DC 295.
I-295 exit 3B to northbound South Capitol Street is signed, too, going northbound. Since that's where I got on the freeway this afternoon (coming south from South Capitol Street), I don't know about the other I-295 exit numbers. |

Google Maps has a few more exit numbers along I-/DC 295 than it used to, so I was wondering if they match posted numbers. Exits 3 and 4 match. Thanks for the confirmation.
The first exit on DC 295 past the I-295 split is shown as Exit 5. So I-295 exits the freeway that has the exit numbers. |

I was looking for exit numbers on DC 295 northeast of the I-295 split when I drove it last Saturday afternoon, and didn't see any. I don't know if an exit number has been posted on I-295, for the last exit (just after the 11th Street Bridge) before its junction with the Southeast Freeway. |

I made a dedicated trip last weekend to photograph the I-395 exit numbers. Can dig through and either post them (once I have consistent access) or E-mail them.
I think I have some of the I-295 exit numbers photographed too...I'm always on I-295 in some way shape or form, but haven't really thought about its interchanges. _________________ Froggie

No news on I-395 exit numbering, since I last spoke several months ago. The exit numbering project seems to have been completed for some time, with no number assigned to the "To I-295" (unsigned I-695) left exit from northbound I-395.
I suggest going ahead with fixing the exit labels, per the discussion above. The "To I-295" left exit from I-395 northbound could labeled "I-695", or "7" to be consistent with the corresponding exit from I-395 southbound (which is signed as exit 7).
The old labels should be changed anyway, to reflect the exit ramps actually in place (which in some places differ for northbound and southbound I-395), as well as remove the mistaken reference to "I-295." |

OK, I'll update the labels with the exit numbers. With all the braiding in the ramps in some places, it's just easier to label a whole jumble with a single point, such as the ramp spaghetti in the C & D St SW area.
I tweaked some points, too. I bet this file never got updated back when I put the less-precise Terraserver aside and started using Google maps. |
