I'd either use the new routing or wait until it's finished. No sense IMO in making a split file. _________________ Froggie

I say leave it as is until finished. It makes the most sense in terms of the US routes multiplexed with it across the Washington Bridge.
This is probably a bit small for a whole separate split file. Anyone know what, if anything, AASHTO/FHWA have signed off on at this time? (Could it even be considered interstate in that sense?) |

Let's see...
This also affects US6, US44, US1AltPro and I-95.
US6: Simple enough. Just run it down 95 to 195's new terminus.
US44 & US1AltPro: Their future westbound alignments should not be open yet, but no matter - they change little enough that they can be represented by the same set of points in the meantime.
I-95
• 19: IIRC, exit 19 is the number for the new Iway interchange. Also, the number for the existing SB Eddy St exit. I dunno how exit numbering will shake out when it's all done, but with the Eddy St ramp entirely within the footprint of the Iway interchange, they can be served by one point. Might as well call it 19, and it can even be left where it is.
• 20: The old I-195 interchange'll be real gone, daddy-o. Looks like in its place we'll have a ½-diamond-like setup at @ Point St, though it's hard to tell for certain fro the map on the RIDOT site. No idea whether this is open yet.
• 21: With the onramp from Broad St removed, I'd move point 21 closer to Atwells Ave or Broadway.
I-195 itself
• 3 can stay where it is.
• 2 would shift to the new alignment between a reconnected Benefit St & S Main St.
• 0 & 1 would be deleted. New terminus point I-95 coincides with RI I-95 19.
Should 1 be used for the new terminus, to continue sequentially from the neighboring exit 2?
If & only if signed as such in the field?
Not at all; just call the point I-95? |

I suppose I could make all the changes except for RI I-95 20, and just surreptitiously slide that one a bit south later on. What should I do with 195's terminus? |

Didn't you agree with me back in October that we should wait until it's finished? Your post is right there... _________________ Froggie

So much for procrastinating. Going to Philadelphia for the weekend tomorrow. I'll digest this while down there, and see about possibly diverting on the way back, to catch up with US44 and US1A. |

I-95
• Oh, fun: SB, first we have the split for exit 20, serving I-195, then 19 for local streets. NB, first we have exit 19 for I-195, then 20 for Point street. The alternative to mismatched exit numbers would have been out-of-sequence ones, a la CT's 2DIs
• 19: Location may be slightly tweaked to be centered on Eddy St.
• 20: Will be relocated to Point St.
• 21: Will be relocated to Atwells Ave.
I-195 itself
• 1: Will be the label for the new terminus. There'll be an exit 1A from the I-95 N split to Point St, and an exit 1B from the I-95 S split to Eddy St.
• 0: Almost considered mapping +0 to a shaping point between points 2 & 3, so people who'd clinched the old alignment would have their mileage auto-adjusted. But it'd not work for those with "0 1" or "0 2" in their LISTs, so nix that.
US6:
Here's where stuff gets fun.
I-95(21) is only accessible from I-95 - not from US6 - due to the braided ramps. I will + it out. Tweaking the 6th decimal place would avoid triggering the multiplex detector, but then it would break for I-95 22 20. Poo.
But the I-95(20) I-95(19) mess is where my head starts to hurt.
Commence the thinking out loud:
tweaking point locations is right out...
diverge from I-95 & exit 19: false positive on I-95 19 20 plex; deal with it.
- label 20; hide 19: segment to point st exit included even for those going south
- label 19; hide 20: segment to point st exit not marked
- label both: 2 points / 1 interchange? consider as 1 or 2?
ow my brain
Okay, uhh... settling on labeling both points. |

Which point on I-195/US 6/US 1/US 44 is the one for where the old I-195 split from the new I-195? |

OK, then we need a *Old195 point added to those routes. |
