http://cms.transportation.org/?siteid=68&c=downloads

So far, here are the possible changes we can see (you can download the info all at the above link):

NC:
-Extention of I-73 from current I-73/I-40/US-421 interchange up to Bryan Blvd
-I-140 (finally asking for permission for the currently signed route)
-I-440 Elimination (section that is currently signed with I-40)
-I-540 Extention (finally asking for permission for the currently signed route)
-US-17 Bypass in Windsor (route to be completed by 11/5/08)
-US-117 Relocation (returning to former route [currently US-117Alt] and to end @ US-301)
-US-117 Alt Elimination (see above line)

PA:
-New Business US-40 from Brownsville to Davidson starting at the intersection of Broadway St/US-40 to where the new US-40 rejoins the old route after PA-Turnpike-43.
-Relocation US-222 in Allenton. Route move to new at-grade freeway alignement.

IN:
-US-35 Elimination (From the current end of US-35 in Michigan City @ US-12 to the Eastern JCT with US-20. If approved, to happen on October 1st, 2009.)

NV:
-TEMP US-95/395 (Yes, real TEMP routes. Read PDF's for info. We also need to extend US-50/395 down the new freeway since it's already open. And if approved, US-50 and US-395 will need to be split into two files.)

OK:
    -US-77 Relocation in Norman OK.

OR:
-US-97 Business (no info about this one. PDF link is currently dead.)
-US-97 Relocation to new expressway in Redmond, OR. Old route seems to become the US-97 Business mentioned above, but can't be sure.)

UT:
-Elimination of US-163 multiplex on US-191. US-163 will now start @ the current southern US-163/191 junction.

WV:
-US-35 Elimination. US-35 will now end @ Exit #40 instead of going on I-64 to old aligment and then down to US-60.

KY:
    -US-119 Relocation in Pike County
    -US-231

KS:
-US-169 Relocation - Removed from local streets and I-435 and moved to I-35.
-US-73 Relocation - Curently ends at I-435. Now will end at I-70.
-US-40 Relocation - Removed from local streets in Kansas City to I-70 to the new/future end of US-73.
-US-24 Relocation - Removed from local streets in Kansas City to I-70 to the new/future end of US-73.

I already implemented these. I wonder if PA US 222 is really still signed on the old road.

I had to check to see if I had any TEMP banner images. I do. Wink

While I appreciate Kansas' effort to give me more clinched US highway mileage without me actually trying, I don't think that's fair.* I can say that none of those were signed in October 2007, and my biggest problem with it is that while the I-435/State Avenue interchange was very well-signed with 24/40/73, I fear that BGSs along I-70 won't be replaced and what shields they do place will be tacked onto gantry poles (see US 75 in Topeka or, for that matter, US 50/56/169 at the I-35/435 interchange). For that matter, it doesn't clear up the 69/169 "bumps" between US 56 and the state line - but 69/169 will now be duplexed from I-435 to US 56.

*And I won't count it until I'm on those parts of 35/70 after they're signed anyway.

It wasn't at the endpoints. Just rolled through there on Monday and US 222 is clearly signed along the new route.

One missing from James' list is US 212 in Minnesota. I'm already working on the fix.

Well, the meetings are happening this weekend.

So, we should know soon what was approved and what wasn't if anything.

Results are out:

http://cms.transportation.org/sites/route/docs/USRN%20Minutes%20October%2017,%202008.doc

Seems the AASHTO has lost their mind somewhat. They want the the Greensboro I-73 marked as "Future". Want I-140 re-submitted as a "SPUR". And they want the newest segment of I-540 marked as "Future".

Maybe the FHWA approvals will allow I-73 to stay I-73 and be extended North and keep I-540 as I-540.

Other than that, everything was approved except for the US-117 changes. Also, it seems they skipped the US-50/395 TEMP in Nevada.

I always find it puzzling why any applications are ever turned down at these meetings. Shouldn't the DOTs know the rules and be able to get their apps 100% right so that the meetings are just a formality/confirmation of the changes?

So the NC I-73_N route will be a Future Interstate because I-73 isn't complete? Yet there are 3 pieces of I-74.

What does having an Interstate designated as a "SPUR" mean? Like I-895's and I-270's spurs in MD? Or just that the highway connects to another Interstate only at one end?

NC I-540: Why is "Future" needed? I didn't expect to need to truncate this one.

I know, it seems messed up. But IMO, as long as the FHWA approved the designation, they don't need to place any "Future" banners. So, let's hope the FHWA approves it as a full Interstate.

When does FWHA make such a decision, and how can we find out what the decision is?

I don't know.

Maybe we could ask John Lansford over @ MTR if he knows because I think he works for NCDOT.

Bob Malme would be a better person to ask. Yes John works for NCDOT (and Jim Dunlap too), but they're in design, not so much keeping tabs on North Carolina Interstates like Bob is.

Incorporating some of the changes into my GGMs.

Tim:
The new US 24/40 incorporates the KS I-70 224(KT) point. What convention is used in such a situation, to avoid awkward nested parentheses? I-70(224KT)? Is there already a precedent in an existing US route file?

Jeff, or anyone who knows:
I assume the north end of the new routing of US 169 along I-35 is at the Shawnee Mission Parkway. Correct?

Anyone know the details of the reroute of US 77 in Norman OK?
