As discussed in this thread, the old road has been given a new designation and WY193 is at least an implied concurrency, if not a route that WYDOT are in the process of making it a signed part of US87.

I see hints of both US 87 still running on the blocked road and of that road having a new designation of WY 346 on the south side. I also see hints of both US 87 running along WY 193 and it not doing so. In both of these, one option looks like an older one (US 87 is the blocked road) and the other a newer one (US 87 is continuous and runs along WY 193). I think we should have US 87 running along WY 193 without a gap since it is the newer option. WY's DOT is moving in this direction even if AAHSTO isn't on board. And WY DOT also seems to have decided that the blocked road is too prone to landslides to bother fixing the road, so they aren't fixing it to make it viable for a US highway. |
