US-127 is no longer marked in Chattanooga east of US-27. Following its path northward in the HB, I didn't see a sign for it until I passed the US-27 interchange and found this one with a BEGIN banner.
US-76 also appeared to be unmarked downtown. I followed US-41 (still well signed) from the Georgia line to the interchange with US-27 & I-24, but never saw a sign for US-76 along Main St or where it should have turned right onto Market St. |

As you may or may not know, Tennessee cities are not known for having good route signage. Officially, US 76 and US 127 still end at the same intersection in downtown Chattanooga. Those "BEGIN" and "END" US 127 shields at the interchange with US 27 have been there for at least 15 years now...in error the whole time. _________________ Froggie

Ok, understood. I posted this because others had pointed out that what's posted in the field mattered, not what's "officially" part of a route. FWIW, signage for US-64 and US-11 seemed to be present whenever I crossed those routes in the city. |

What's posted in the field plays a factor, but it's not the only factor considered. We've also had collaborators discussions specific to the Chattanooga situation on 76 and 127. _________________ Froggie

Randomly checked out this topic. Looks like it's all set. Locking it for housekeeping purposes. |
